Local support groups and organisations
Group48 is a social group for people over 18 who have autism and live in the stockport area. Come and join us every Monday 4.30pm - 6.30pm at 48 Middle Hillgate, Stockport, SK1 3DL or call 0161 480 8979 for more information.
Stockport Carers for Adults on the Autistic Spectrum (SCAAS)
SCAAS provide support and social activities for carers; share information and knowledge and act as a pressure group to improve services for adults on the spectrum. They meet on the last Tuesday of the month, alternate months at 7pm at 48 Middle Hillgate (also known as the ‘Land of Cakes’), and The Red Bull. For more information contact StockportCAAS@gmail.com
Stockport Targeted Prevention Alliance (TPA)
The TPA provides early help and preventative support for a wide range of people. The service is delivered through an alliance of organisations working in partnership with the Council. The organisations are: Age UK Stockport, FLAG, Nacro, Relate GMS, Stockport Homes and Threshold.
The TPA staff have a wide-range of knowledge, skills and expertise and is also committed to working with partners across Stockport. Their approach is to listen, to find out about your experiences, and based on that, to work with you to put a plan of action together.

Regional and national organisations
Greater Manchester Autism Consortium
This project delivers services for people who have been diagnosed with autism and their family or carers and is run by the National Autistic Society. It runs a website, telephone helpline and newsletter which all provide advice covering topics including diagnosis, family support, coping strategies, education, employment, benefits advice, short breaks and leisure opportunities.

The National Autistic Society (NAS)
This charity provides support services, information and resources to people with autism or Asperger’s syndrome. The NAS also runs campaigns to highlight the issues people with autism face and bring about change to their lives.
