Strathclyde House provides temporary accommodation for  homeless women / mothers and babies and can accommodate up to 18 women aged 16 years old and over.

It is staffed by Project Workers who provide housing related support (but not personal care) which includes support and advice, and helps residents work through a support planning process designed to assist them in their move towards independent accommodation.

A Scheme Manager oversees the scheme. Access to the scheme is via the Housing Options Team at Stockport Homes; direct applications cannot be taken.

What we offer

The accommodation comprises of one bedroom furnished flats with shared kitchens and bathrooms. There are self-contained furnished flats (priority for mothers and babies / disabled residents) and communal facilities for meetings, training, activities. This is a secure building with fob access.  Different types of support include:

  • Staff on scheme from 8am to 10pm with security available thereafter;
  • Allocated Project Workers to each resident to provide them with support / plan towards moving on;
  • Range of activities e.g. arts and cooking classes, opportunities for volunteering and assistance with job hunting, trips, etc;
  • Weekly brunch clubs; monthly residents meetings;
  • Outreach to the scheme by several partner agencies such as Community Drug and Alcohol Teams, Stockport Homes' Employment Support Officer, MIND.

What we charge

There is no charge for the support services but all residents must pay a weekly service charge of £12.14 that covers heating, light etc. Rent is also payable but this is usually covered by Housing Benefit.
