Who can get meals on wheels?
This service is for people aged 18 and over, normally older
people, who are unable to prepare and cook one hot meal a day. This
may be a permanent situation due to sight loss, a physical or
learning disability, illness or a temporary situation such as
recovering after a stay in hospital, to help you maintain your
independence and quality of life.
Community Meals in Stockport are provided by Individual
Solutions SK and, if you prefer, you can contact them direct
to arrange for meals to be delivered to your home.
How much does it cost?
The cost is £5.00 a day for the hot main meal and dessert,
delivered to your door.
Can I get help with the cost?
No, not in this instance. The cost of preparing the food and
delivering it to your home has to be covered so there is a fixed
charge that everyone has to pay.
How to get in touch
The Adult Social Care Team is the first point of contact for all
referrals and general enquiries. Contact them from 8am to 6pm,
Monday to Friday on 0161 217 6029.
When you contact us we'll discuss your situation over the phone
and possibly follow this up with a visit to your home to talk about
your needs and discuss what help is available.
