What is available?

There are a number of specialist day centres run by the Council or by local community or voluntary organisations. They are run by staff and volunteers who organise a full programme of activities to suit the people who go there, such as arts and crafts, computers, photography, sewing and dressmaking, cookery, dance, bridge and music.

If needed, care and support is available to help ensure that people are able to participate in activities. Lunch and refreshments are provided and there is a chance to socialise with other people and enjoy days out.

Who can go there?

These specialist day centres are open to people over 18 with a learning or physical disability, or with sight or hearing loss.

We can offer you help and advice on what day centres are available to meet your needs but if you need support from Adult Social Care we will need to carry out an assessment.

What is an assessment?

After the assessment we will identify and agree your needs with you and discuss the support available to meet them, according to the seriousness of your situation.

How can I find out where they are?
