Deaf duty sessions
If you are Deaf and a BSL user we have weekly sessions where you can call in for advice and information.
Deaf Duty Sessions
Help is available for you and your family, friends or
carers if you are Deaf/blind or blind/deaf, and are
a British Sign Language user. We have a specialist Social
Worker with Deaf People who has fluent signing skills and is
here to help you. Advice and information is
available on a wide range of issues and we can liaise with
other agencies and support services on your behalf. We can also
tell you about services such as interpreting for BSL users,
lipspeaking and Deafblind communicator.
You can call in any Monday afternoon between 1pm and 4.30pm, or
Wednesday morning between 9.30am to 1pm at Stockport Direct Centre,
Fred Perry House, Edward Street, Stockport SK1 3XE for help and
advice. No appointment is needed but you will be seen on a 'first
come, first served' basis.
Interpreting service
If you are resident in Stockport you can book a sign language
interpreter to help you to communicate with local
organisations such as Employment, Health or Education but please
ensure that they will take responsibility for meeting the
cost. Interpreters are in great demand and may not be
available immediately so please give at least one weeks notice. To
book a sign language interpreter, please contact the RNID
Interpreting Service.
